CustomerReviewsBitter Sweet Product.I have had three of these in use in my home for the past 7 years. One receiver unit stopped working during a thunderstorm and had to be replaced. One transmitter/switch unit has become tempermental and you have to press the light on/off-dimmer button just right to get the desired effect. The product is clearly made to last no more than x number of years, yet it is indispensible if you only have the wiring for a fan or a light and you want to control both separately, as I do. Overall, the product works well. It's a pitty that the transmitter has to be powered by a special ($) battery when 120v is only tenths of a inch away. You have to take the switch cover plate off with a screwdriver to access the battery compartment. Also, be aware that the fan lights come on automatically upon restoration of power sometimes - I don't know what triggers this or if it is unique to the wiring in my house. I keep one entire unit in my utility closet for replacement parts.
Truly a piece of junkAs some have written before, this unit will turn on the light if there is a power failure or breaker flipped off then on. You will have to remember to switch off when you go on vacation etc. The handheld remote works the same way. Basically, the remote does work to control the light and fan but it is very cheaply made and doesn't look very nice in the wall. The package gives the illusion there is a wallplate included but contains no wallplate or battery. Uses an odd sized battery too. I have two hunter fans with remotes and a Minka. Everything about the Minka blows away Hunter.
Designed by a foolLuckily I had an extra large J-box in the wall because the switch was in the middle of a circuit so I had extra wires to contend with. I would have had a real pain getting it in a standard box.
Mine has no ground wire - because I had to grind it off to make it fit. What kind of idiot designs a device like this with a rivet through the mounting flange making it impossible to install without sticking out?
I haven't had it long enough to have it screw up yet. My rating is on ease of installation.

CustomerReviewsExcellent MowerPurchased this mower in 2007 when they were on sale at HomeDepot, but never used it until this year. Reason? Our previous Lawn Boy started to violently vibrate so we bought this one. However, found out that the engine mounting bolts on the old one only needed tightening. So the new one sat in the garage until the old one began to sputter, smoke, and stop this week. Brought out the new Sens-A-Speed, poured in the oil, filled the gas, and adjusted the mowing height. Prefer to mulch rather than bag, so made sure the mulching plug was securely in place. Primed 5 times and pulled the recoil start handle - instant start the first time. Just completed mowing both the whole back yard and the front yard without incident. Worked absolutely beautifully. The Sens-A-Speed is remarkable. Barely touch and it moves. Walk faster and it moves faster. Really an outstanding feature!! This model Lawn Boy is the best lawn mower we have ever used. Highly recommend. BTW-1: we prefer using a Panduit releasable cable tie on the blade control bar so we don't have to restart when having to leave the mower to clear the way or whatever. And according to Martha: "that's a good thing". BTW-2: we only have used Castrol Heavy-Duty straight 30W oil on both mowers (excellent choice). All in all, this is a very well engineered product that does the job. Makes lawn mowing fun!
2 years of lifeThe title is self-explanatory. Bought it, loved it, then after two years this March, it died. Spark plug, oil, and air filter seem fine. Right now, deciding whether to take it somewhere, or buy a new one. Seems like it should've lasted longer for the price...
Generally Great - but 6.5 HP? I think not!The mower has a definite advantage set. It is EXTREMELY easy to control and provides wonderful maneuverability. It stores well and is actually fairly efficient with its fuel consumption. Easy maintenance for oil, filter and spark plugs. They definitely created this mower with the general consumer in mind and I recommend it for small lawns; unless...
The 10685 has a distinct disadvantage on healthy, fast-growing lawns: the 6.5 HP doesn't live up to comparable Honda 120cc through 190cc mowers, especially when mulching. Frequently, when a lawn grows and inch to two inches above where you normally mow (saw it rains for a week or more without a break) you will find that it is simply just too much for the mower to handle regardless of how slow you go.
I loved the mower until I moved to a new residence and had a level, much healthier lawn that I had before. Too frequently the mower has wound up just not providing the power I need. I would still recommend it for people, however, you must keep in mind the frequency of your mowing and the general growth state of your lawn.

CustomerReviewsalready doneAlready reviewed this (very favorably). If you didn;t get it, that;s not my fault. OK?
NEUTON REVIEWI purchased mine a year ago. When fully charged, the battery is now lasting ten minutes. When I first received it, I could mow my yard three times before it needed recharging. I like that it's light and is easy to push, plus no cord to pull repeatedly to start. However, at around $90 for a battery after a little over
one year is a bummer.
happy with itI wasn't too sure about a battery operated mower, but less than thrilled about gas mowers. This cuts well, battery lasts long enough on my small back yard, and makes little noise. So far, perfectly happy

Product DescriptionThe Neuton CE 6 Mower gives you the powerful performance of a gas mower with convenience of battery technology. And because it is battery-powered it is also easy to operate. Winner of the 2009 Organic Gardening Editors' Choice Award, the Neuton CE 6 is a welcome relief from the arm-yanking pull-starts, the fumes, noise, and vibration of a gas lawn mower. Start this 19" cut mower with the push of a button and mow for up to 1 hour on a single charge. Adjust the cutting height from 1.2" - 3" with a single lever. The 10" rear wheels and 7" front wheels roll easily over rugged terrain. The 750W motor doesn't use gas or oil, it never needs a tune-up, and it runs clean. It produces no pollution or carbon emissions - and the battery is virtually 100% recyclable. Perfect for lawns up to 1/3 acre on a single charge. Unlike other battery mowers with built-in batteries that require you to stop mowing to recharge, if you need more time with a Neuton Mower just drop in an optional spare battery and keep mowing. There's no need for the hassle of an extension cord. The 3-in-1 Neuton CE 6 Mower comes with everything you need to start mowing: rear grass collection bag, side discharge chute, mulching plug, 240 watt-hour battery, battery charger and safety key. The optional Trimmer/Edger attachment eliminates the need for a second piece of equipment and gives your yard and walkways a beautiful, clean finish. At only 69 lbs. and half as noisy as an average gas mower, the Neuton CE 6.3 is easy on you and the neighborhood. The battery recharges on about 10 cents worth of electricity - so the Neuton CE 6 is also easy on your wallet. The approximate cost to operate a gas mower (including gasoline, oil, spark plugs, filters and tune-ups) for 4 years is $260. Four years of mowing 28 times per year with a Neuton Mower is only $11.20! You'll save almost $250!! All Neuton Mowers are backed by a 2-year warranty and Neuton's own customer service technicians, web site and live chat.
Feature - Removable 36-volt battery that costs about 10 cents to fully recharge in 12 hours.

- Easy to use 1-touch cutting height adjustment from 1/2-inch to 3-inch.
- At only 69 pounds, the Neuton CE 6.3 is easy to push

CustomerReviewsStay Away.I've had this for about a year - actually the 6.2 model. I've had nothing but problems with this mower - there's nothing more frustrating than getting ready to mow the yard and the mower won't work! There's nothing to it, but I've had more problems than I can even recall. Customer service is helpful when you finally get through, as long as you call during typical business hours, which isn't usually when I have time to mow the yard. From what I've learned (and I've learned way too much about this company), they are fairly new to the manufacturing business and the quality control has been lacking, to say the least. They've had 2 recalls on this machine in the last year, and have had to replace the circuit board on my machine 3 times. I took it into the local service center 1 month after buying it, and they said it had dirt in the switch, and charged me to clean it out - that dust in the switch should be a problem under normal usage is a sign right there... that I had to pay for that is another problem. After the mower sat for the short winter in Phoenix, it wouldn't start at all, again. After talking to the service center, and then receiving a new circuit board from them, I still had to take it to the service center because the switch was bad. The service center took 7 weeks to fix the mower (7 weeks!) I haven't used it in a month due to travelling (luckily the grass grows slowly), and now it won't start again! My mower lives in the garage, in a protected space, is kept clean and well-maintained. It doesn't have any excuses. I'm sorry to say that in the 16 months I've owned this mower, I've used borrowed mowers more than half the time because of problems.
And by the way, if you have one, DON'T let them talk you into purchasing the trimmer/edger attachment. What a complete peice of junk! I plugged it in once, and not only is it awkward to maneuver, it doesn't really work. The marketing is great, the product is horrible! There are now other, better battery-powered mowers on the market!
Comparison with B & D CMM1200Two years use of both cordless big machines (Neuton 6.2, Black & Decker CMM1200) by neighbors suggests the following evaluation.
Neuton feels lighter.
Neuton's double-bar trigger is much easier and versatile in use than right-side-only one on B&D--the B&D's single trigger is also the only part that has broken (too easy to twist off)--while the Neuton's is too sensitive to inadvertent shut-off.
The B&D's mulching is superior (fancier blade), rarely leaves Neuton's uncut piles. The B&D spits out less debris. Keep the blades sharp: less bogging down, better mulching!
Neuton cuts closer to trees and fences on front and sides than B&D, due to narrower deck sides, but as both are plastic, I doubt there is any difference in (lack of) safety.
Neuton can switch between two batteries. Recharge and exchange is sooo much easier than B&D, and doesn't require disassembling the mower.
Batteries run for about an hour each and 10 hours to charge (which means the B&D is good only once a day, if you have more than a quarter-acre to mow).
Easy to remove cutter blade with Neuton's included tools, without grabbing the sharp blade, unlike the B&D and its numerous parts. Neuton's tools (stored on the machine) also useful for scraping the gunk from underneath.
The B&D has two safety interlocks before blade starts rotating, Neuton has three to fiddle.
Neuton's control cable is mostly inside the handle, the B&D's exposed on outside where it can catch on things.
Great cordless mower compared to B & DI used to have a Black and Decker corded electric mower, and recently decided to go cordless. After purchasing the B&D cordless model, I returned it because of the quality of the mowing, which I found substandard. It was not powerful enough to throw grass back into the bag, and so it became clogged almost imediately and left untidy piles of grass all over my yard, which needed to be raked. Even under the mulching setting it left ugly rows of dead grass in the wheel tracks. No good.
I bought a Neuton instead and have used it several times. I am very happy with the power and mowing performance of this mower. My yard is within the size specifications for the Neuton's battery, and so I am satisfied by it's ability to get the job done. There are many features that the Neuton has which make it worth the extra money over B&D. First, the removable battery is really a handy feature. If your yard is very large, just buy a spare. The replacement batteries for the Neuton are some of the most affordable replacement batteries on these types of mowers. Everything about the mower seems pretty ergonomic. My only complaints are that the height adjustments are not very fine-tuned. The difference in height between settings 2 and 3 is enough to "burn" my lawn, but 3 seems a bit long sometimes. However, I will say that the lowest setting is very short, which I think a lot of electric mowers would have trouble doing without bogging down, but the Neuton is so powerful it will take your grass as short as you want. Also, I find it just a little tricky to unhook the clippings bag from the mower. Just a little awkward is all.
As a lawn perfectionist, I am very happy with how my grass looks after using the Neuton. Highly recommended for anyone trying to decide which cordless mower to get. Also, if you go to the Neuton website directly, I believe they have reconditioned units available, which could save you a few bucks.
